AA public works

Rainforest Pavilion

The AA’s entrance can be intimidating; even the most determined struggle to gain entry to the school's Georgian home via its weighty front door. Luckily many gallery visitors are prepared to push but what of those passers-by; the uninitiated and busy who don’t make it inside? Through a mixture of determination to take work outside the gallery and the support of Camden Council’s enlightened Culture and Environment team we occupy - as often as possible - the pavement opposite the school, hosting installations by artists and architects that insert themselves into the public space of Bedford Square.

GUN Architects and AKT II were shortlisted in The Temporary category for The Rainforest at the NLA's New London Awards 2015. The Rainforest became a popular lunch time destination and even featured as a back drop for a GQ mens fashion shoot featuring grunge rockers Drenge.
